Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
Let me greet on behalf of the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry the participants of annual International Investment Summit of Donetsk region initiated by Donetsk Regional Council.

Holding the events of such a high level is very important for providing economic prosperity of Donetsk region and increase of it’s investment attractiveness.
 
I am pleased to notice that for the recent last years the interest of Ukrainian and foreign companies to business development in this region has been constantly growing. However there is a big potential for the further investments attraction and creation of favorable investment climate. The discussion of key questions of economic development will allow to expend the international contacts of the Region and to increase the investment activity of the enterprises.
 
Creating of positive image of Donetsk region in Ukraine and abroad and strengthening of the economic sector is a common tasks of the authorities, politicians and businessmen. The Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry is open for the international collaboration and ready to give comprehensive assistance both to foreign investors, who plan to start business in Donetsk region and to Donetsk companies, which are interested in attracting investments.

I hope, holding of the Summit will be the beginning of a long-term collaboration and perspective investment projects.

Donbass – Investing for the Future

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

SCM is very pleased to be one of the national sponsor’s of the Donetsk Investment Summit. Everybody knows that while business interests of SCM - the biggest national investor - cover all of Ukraine and extend international into Europe and beyond, we are proud to have our headquarters in the city of Donetsk.

Donbass has proved to be a very promising region for investment. Many Ukrainian and international businesses have made the region their home. Donbass is a place of operations for such big companies as the Industrial Union of Donbass, US food business Cargill and European food business Bunge. German wholesaler Metro has a major presence in the region, as does French building products Group Lafarge while the German engineering company Siemens also has a significant presence in the region.

The fact that the region is blessed with natural resources is well known to many.  But the natural resources are not the only advantage of Donetsk land. And, most importantly, the future investors in the economy of Donbass must discover its most valuable asset - the talented and hardworking people.

Donbass is rich in investment opportunities. Such industries as manufacturing and engineering, retail and real estate, development of technology-led products using the base of scientific knowledge in the region, and further development in natural resources are growing rapidly here.

I would like to sincerely congratulate you on founding the Annual International Investment Summit – a tradition that is important to both the Donetsk region and Ukraine, as well as our current and future partners!
The Summit is undoubtedly a remarkable and very promising undertaking. This, in fact, is the first time ever that the objective calculation of the economic indicators and investment prospects of the region have become a basis for a fundamental, high-level discussion not only about implementing actual projects, but also about regional investment policies and strategy. The Summit determines the constructive format of partner relations and shapes the region’s image as a powerful and reliable business partner.
The systematization of attracting capital at the regional level is vital to the Donetsk Oblast, as experts determine its growth potential to be very high. Thus, a deficit of efforts in this area can be safely equated with direct economic losses.
The global movement of capital, the search for free trade zones and promising markets are objective processes. Donetsk’s future points to an active participation in these global trends, in increasing the presence of the region’s businessmen in the world market, in implementing effective policies to support domestic producers and strengthening constructive and in-depth cooperation.
The successful implementation of the marked approaches would not only be a sign of the regionalization of investment policy – thus, not just temporarily focusing on the most successful and fastest projects – but also on the formation and operation of a permanent market of investment projects with proper support and assurance from the regional authorities. This will encourage realizing leadership ambitions, supported by equal possibilities and requirements for all.
