Makiivvuhillya, the Butivska mine
Makiivvuhillya is amongst the leading coal mining companies of Ukraine. It is on of a few in the Region to produce not only coke, but also energy coal – the one that is used for heating purposes. The company operates 9 mines with over 20 thousand people employed. The area of the mines covers 250 sq. km. Coal supplies, including reserve supplies, amount to almost 0.8 billion tonnes, the supply from active mines – 505.5 million tonnes, industrial – 379.4 million tonnes.
The company also provides the services of development of pit hills that are no longer burning and have been put out, waste management against dangerous substances entering the atmosphere, sales, buying and selling coal and coal products, securing coal production for consumers and the public through agreements on supply and buying-selling, producing metal constructions, assembly, disassembly, preliminary and periodic repair of mountainous mining equipment, etc.
Opened in 1928, the Butivska mine is ona of the oldest mines in Donetsk region The mine’s projected output is 1800 thousand tonnes per year. The production output prescribed on 1.01.2006 was 630 thousand tonnes per year. The level of mastering production output – 49.3%. The last re-construction of the mine took place in 1975-1979. Industrial supply on 1.01.2006, by stratum of development – 22.5 million tonnes. The mine develops layers of ground at a general output of 2.2-2.3 meters.
